The Riverside Group Expands Collating, Gluing Capabilities

New 40-Pocket Collator and Inline Spot Gluing Unit Will Enhance Throughput and Offer Customers an Expanded Range of Production Solutions

Rochester, N.Y. - The Riverside Group, a full-service binder and finisher located here, has recently completed installation of a Duplo tower single-sheet collating machine. The collator has four towers, each with ten pockets. Each tower can be loaded and run independently, greatly improving throughput.

For larger collating jobs, the towers can be programmed to run sequentially to minimize loading time. The collator is also equipped with automatic detection of double feeds, misfeeds and paper jams; and computerized makeready and job storage. Stock sizes range from 4.7” x 5.5” to 14” x 20”, with stock weights ranging from 11lb. text to 12pt. cover.

“This new tower collator will greatly enhance our single-sheet collating productivity,” said Fred Daubert, President. “In turn, that will allow us to reduce turnaround times on projects ranging from Wire-O-bound books to loose-leaf binder inserts.”

The Riverside Group also recently installed a new inline spot gluing unit. The four-head gluing machine is expandable to six gluing units, which allows six glue spots to be applied simultaneously during folding, making it ideal for multiple-up applications.

“We produce a great deal of direct mail projects, and this new gluing unit will allow us to offer our customers even faster production,” said Daubert. “It can accurately place up to six individual glue spots at the folder’s full production speed. This unit now brings to five our total pieces of gluing equipment, giving us plenty of horsepower for any job that our customers present us. “Both of these installations are the result of our commitment to continually offering our customers better production services.
