PUR Adhesive Binding
PUR (polyurethane reactive) adhesive binding is stronger and more flexible than standard perfect binding. PUR-bound books can include design options such as foldout, die cut and pocket covers, index tabs and more.
The Riverside PUR Adhesive Binding Advantage:
- Otabind Layflat Binding
The closest thing to a layflat adhesive binding style. This patented process involves adhering a book block to a paper “crash” liner at the spine. Hot melt adhesive is placed on each side to hold the cover to the book block. This creates a free floating cover that gives it layflat characteristics.
- Smyth Sewing
Smyth sewing involves threads sewn between all signatures in a book block, which is then glued to a cover or case. The interwoven threads, in combination with the binding adhesive, create a super-strong bind. That durability makes Smyth sewing ideal for books that will be used heavily for an extended period of time.
- Notch Binding
- Books as Thin as 1/16"
